Symbolic handbags: the Fendi Baguette

The renowned Fendi Baguette, which recently turned 25 years old, was one of the first handbags to be deemed a “It Bag.”

The goal of the Italian company was to design a bag that was unlike anything else available at the time and was compact enough to be carried under the arm, as the French do with a loaf of bread. Hence its specific name.

This rectangle bag with a flap and short shoulder strap became a brand success in a relatively short period of time.

From its inception to the present, the Baguette has been exhibited in an unlimited variety of fabrics, textures, and colors, and was the first product in the United States and Europe to have a waiting list.

One of its most popular moments was when it was shown in an episode of Sex and the City, which made it an instant object of desire among fashion enthusiasts.
