Hermès is one of the most prestigious luxury brands in the fashion industry. Among its exclusive items is the legendary Birkin bag, an absolute object of desire that only a very select group can access, both because of its price, which amounts to thousands of dollars, but also because the firm carefully chooses who to sell it to. (until a few years ago there was a waiting list to be able to acquire it).
This iconic bag was born in 1981 in a chance meeting between Jane Birkin and the director of Hermès, Jean-Louis Dumas during a flight. Dumas was struck by the fact that the actress and singer carried her personal items in a wicker basket. When asked about the reason, Birkin replied that he could not find a bag that was practical and versatile enough for him.
It was then that the manager of Hermès proposed to design one together and thus the famous Birkin model was created.
This bag is a handmade piece, made entirely by hand with top quality leather and materials and represents a real investment, as it increases in value as time goes by.
